Global Stage Review

Editorial policy

Global Stage Review aims to make its explanations of live performance clear, considered and fair. We distinguish what can be observed from what is interpretation, and we correct material when a reader points out a substantive error.

Accuracy and clarity

Writers should make claims that can be supported by the material they describe and should explain the limits of an interpretation. We avoid presenting a personal response as a fact about what every performer or audience member intends or feels. If a detail is uncertain, the wording should say so.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made for reader interest and relevance to the publication's subject. A collaboration or commercial relationship does not buy a favourable editorial judgement. Any material created as part of a partnership is identified clearly, and editorial coverage remains distinct from promotional content.

Corrections

Readers can report a possible error through the Contact page. We review specific, actionable reports, check the wording in question and amend confirmed mistakes. When a correction changes the meaning of a piece, we make the change clear to readers.

Illustrations

Some illustrations may be generated with artificial intelligence. Illustrations are not evidence of a particular production, performer, venue or event unless their caption explicitly establishes that context.

Our point of view

Notice the choices, not just the effect

A performance is made through decisions about bodies, space, sound and time. Looking closely helps explain what those decisions do.
